Writing my masterpiece

I've wanted to write a novel for as long as I can remember.

I don't have my sights set high - I'm not trying to be a Harper Lee, a Mark Twain or even a Dan Brown. I want to do it just so I can prove to myself I can do it.

If a few people read it and are entertained by it then so much the better - but I have no ambitions of making a mint out of it.

So where do I start? I've tried planning ahead, I've tried winging it and neither has worked - although this has been an attempt to win nanowrimo so isn't exactly normal process.

I've got my idea - it's the story of an antihero and I think I'm going to enjoy writing it. I've procrastinated for long enough and it's time to fire up WriteMonkey and get to it.
